华为2012实验室无线研究和通信技术实验室主管在慕尼黑5G@欧洲峰会上宣布，“5G基站容量将高过4G基站1000倍，数据传输速度最高可达到10GBps。”

According to Huawei, the first 5G mobile networks will be ready for commercial deployment in 2020, achieving 1000 times the capacity of current mobile networks and peak data rates of over 10Gbps. Dr. Wen Tong, Head of Wireless Research and Head of Communications Technologies Laboratories at Huawei 2012 LAB, announced the estimate at the 5G@Europe Summit, held by the Chinese company in Munich, Germany yesterday.
Mr. Tong commented that "5G will have a fundamental impact on the ICT (Information and Communications Technology) industry, and on our quality of life" and stated that Huawei has been investing in the next-generation networking standard since 2009, with recent plans to invest $600 million for research and innovation in the field. The company believes that the 5G mobile networks and wide adoption of connected devices will result in 50-100 billion connections by 2020.
As a member of the European research consortium METIS, Huawei is one of the key contributors to the Advanced 5G Infrastructure public-private partnership programme (5GPPP) defined by the European Commission. The company is feeling rather welcome in Europe, where it maintains large research and development centers, and finds opportunities, such as helping to deploy Sweden and Norway"s first commercial 4G networks.
